Hi all, I'm currently testing a patch to allow support of
cursor routing
buttons on braille displays in firefox. I'm trying to
decide on how
exactly they should work and would very much appreciate
feedback from
those of you using braille displays.
With the current patch if you press a touch cursor on a link
the braille
cursor is placed on the link but the link is not activated.
My
preference would be to activate the link when I press the
cursor routing
button. What would you all like the default behavior to
be?
thanks
Mike Pedersen

what about:
if the link doesnt have focus, then give focus
if link already has focus, then activate.

Hi,
I'd like the default action to activate the link when I
press a touch
cursor, because I think it becomes easier the interaction
with the links.
Instead of pressing some times the insert+rightarrow keys
and enter, it
would be possible to press the braille button only the
necessary times to
show the link on the braille display, and press the touch
cursor to activate
it (at most two or three presses!!).
I think this patch would have a great value!!

Thanks!

Best regards

I always imagine the braille routing keys to do a mouse
click at the
position of the character the routing key relates to, so in
this case I
guess it means activate the link. The only thing that
bothers me is that
sometimes its not clear where the link begins as when
reading a line of
braille there is nothing inserted to indicate the start of a
link, so
this might lead to links being accidently activated.

Also on the topic of cursor routing keys, they don't work in
a code
editing window of eclipse. Is there some way that a more
general
solution for cursor routing keys could be implemented, eg.
mouse click
on the character corresponding to the braille routing key.
This general
action may need to be overridable should a different action
be needed
(eg. if people feel a different action would be best in
firefox, as
people have already suggested).
