Job Title     :    Senior device driver Consultant

 Job Responsibilities:

This position requires a highly motivated individual who combines strong technical ability with a deep focus on Microsoft device partners and their development processes.  At its core, the role  focuses on driving feedback from Microsoft Partners who use our device development platform into the Windows Driver Kit  / Windows Logo Kit (WDK / WLK) product teams, in order to improve development processes and facilitate delivering great experience delivery between devices and the Windows

platform.

 

As a Developer Platform PM, you will focus on data gathering and creation of baseline metrics necessary to understand and measure the 'state of the industry' health across a wide variety of device makers invested in WDPG (Windows Device Platform Group's) technologies.  Internally, you will work heavily cross-group, drawing on PM, Architect, and SDE/SDET resources to asses tools capabilities and typical partner usage models.  Fast ramp-up is essential:  simultaneously you will begin engaging with partners to understand the roles WDPG's tools play in the development lifecycle of their products.  Success in this role will be defined by a) providing insightful data and observations on how MS partners consume and use our tools, and the impact our tools (and gaps) make on device time-to-market, quality, etc.; b) establishing a quantified, measurable set of "partner health" metrics, used to poll the industry and assess our progress at least 1x/quarter ; and c) partnering with select IHVs to implement new and improved tools / development frameworks from the product teams so that fast feedback can be provided during the MS development cycle.

 

 Additional responsibilities include:

*Selection of internal (MSFT) teams who use WDPG tools for internal partnering - i.e., E&D   (Entertainment and Devices) division; Windows Live devices; etc. ; *  Creating, discovering, and   managing as necessary opportunities for additional feedback loops and community outreach.

 

Examples include:
* Discussion groups / web forums (MSDN, Channel 9, etc.); MVP outreach including adoption of high-influence MVP's; etc. ;
* Evangelism at industry events to promote 'best practices' adherence and tools migration to ensure  partners implement WDPG tools / technologies properly, with

  maximum efficiency ;
* Maintain proactive knowledge of the industry, regularly assess the competitive tools landscape, and understand potential opportunities and threats, to help guide MS   

  tools technologies.

 

Qualifications:
* BA required in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent, as well as 10 + years of related work experience.

* Device driver development experience with first-hand understanding of code development practices, device test/QA. 
  Experience with MS tools (WDK, WLK, DTM, etc) is strongly preferred.
