     Job  Responsibilities Major ; Duties:

 

•Explore and learn new database technologies.

•Manage  database product design and development for new and existing products,  including network components.

•Provide analysis relating to current  database software design and development, and resolves  problems.

•Perform benchmarks relating to the Oracle software, document  and publish results.

•Analyze the impact of Oracle software  architecture changes, designing accordingly.

•Analyze the impact of  Operating system architecture changes, designing accordingly.

•Designs  and develops quality assurance standards, processes, and  controls.

•Design, develop and transition Oracle software designs,  measurements and services that improve processes of the management of all  RDBMS products.

•Ensure that appropriate technology and RDBMS systems  management practices are used to meet all high availability business  requirements.

•Design system and RDMBS attributes such as  survivability, security, performance, dependability, and  maintainability.

•Provide knowledge transfer of Oracle  technologies.

•Research and report on new products  releases.

•Design, develop, and author the creation of standard  operating procedures for database installations, database creations and  DBA maintenance procedures.

•Possess the ability to apply design  considerations for stored procedures and SQL scripts that could impact the  production environment.

•Work with developers and users to properly  size and tune production databases.

•Participate in the review of  catastrophic failures and provide potential re-design  options.

•Participate in DBA RDBMS production reviews, potentially  providing best business practices for improvement.

•Analyze current  RDBMS system performance results.

•Participate in some human resource  issues, including recruitment, performance management and other general  administrative issues.

•Attend periodic technical seminars

•Provide  IT Engineering Lab support

 

Punctual, regular, and consistent  attendance.  Minimum  Requirements Education:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a  related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.

 

• Seven ; plus years experience with Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g

 

• Five to seven ; years experience as an Oracle database administrator supporting complex  high volume OLTP databases as well as large DSS databases

 

• A  minimum of five years performance tuning Oracle based database  instances

 

• Experience with Oracle partitioning, replication, Real  Application Clusters

 

• Experience with Oracle Application, Oracle  Forms, PL*SQL, Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS) is desired

 

• At  least five years of solid experience with databases residing on Unix based ; systems such as Solaris, HPUX and Linux

 

• Strong knowledge of  Oracle data structures, data dictionary, and RDBMS structures including:  SGA, latches, system waits, resource allocation, table and index  partitioning, Cost Based Optimizer (CBO), parallel query option, database  security and data archiving

 

• Excellent knowledge of database  administration, programming and systems analysis procedures

 

  Experience in database design and administration, strong in performance  tuning, software installation, scripting, PL/SQL coding, backup & ; recovery process
