A leading developer of optical design and analysis software
has an
opening for a full time Business Analyst/Technical
Specification
Writer.
This position will be responsible for defining and
developing
requirements, use cases, and technical specifications new
optical
software design projects. You will work closely with Product
Managers,
Software Project Managers, Software Architects, Software
Developers,
Software Testers, Software Documentation Specialists, Sales
Engineers
and Marketing Managers to understand customer's needs,
business
processes, and systems architecture; identify gaps between
project
requirements and product features, and develop detailed
business and
technical requirements.
You must have solid technical business analysis background
and project
experience developing highly technical engineering solutions
and
software.
Some travel (10 to 20%) expected for onsite customer
meetings,
requirements gathering and analysis sessions, depending on
specific
project/customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
o. Work closely with Software Development, Software Testing,
Documentation, Sales, and Project Management) on all
commercial
development projects. Owns project requirements; responsible
for
transforming business needs into use cases, user stories,
process
flows, project requirement documentation, and technical
specifications
which will then be used by technical teams for developing
architecture
designs, application code, regression and interactive test
cases, and
end-user documentation
o. Develop effective approaches for capturing, prioritizing
and
managing business requirements. Proactively identify both
product and
process improvement opportunities.
o. Assist in development of other technical-oriented
documents,
including: SOW, test plans, installation guides, user
manuals,
responses to RFP and RFQ, etc. as needed for specific
projects
Requirements:
o. 3+ years experience gathering and analyzing business
requirements
for complex software projects (Required)
o. Experience with functional and technical requirements
analysis (use
case modeling and analysis, business process modeling, etc.)
(Required)
o. Solid understanding of CAD/CAE applications or optical
sciences
(Required)
o. Experience with Agile, RUP, UML, Pragmatic Marketing
requirements
and features prioritization a plus
o. Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Engineering,
Physics, or
Computer Science a plus
o. Prior experience as a programmer/software engineer a
major plus
