EN-601 Network and Security Administrator - Staff -

Salary: BOE + stock options
A leading network company needs a Network and Security
Administrator to
manage their networking infrastructure. This includes
planning,
installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and
optimizing
network hardware, and software and communication links. Also
includes
the identification and remediation of potential security
threats. This
position works closely with the company,s system
administrators and
serves as backup when necessary.
Responsibilities:
o. Manage network hardware which includes routers, switches,
firewalls,
wireless access points, VPN concentrators, multiplexers, and
UPS
systems.
o. Administer security-related systems such as VPN servers,
firewalls,
intrusion detection systems, and network monitoring systems.
o. Monitor VPNs, server and firewall logs, intrusion
detection logs,
and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity and
take
appropriate action.
o. Ensure network and IP connectivity of workstations,
servers, and
back-end office infrastructure.
o. Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements,
upgrades, and
repairs.
o. Diagnose and resolve local and wide area network problems
and
performance issues.
o. Evaluate and recommend new networking and security
products and
technologies
o. Conduct network vulnerability tests, and perform periodic
security
audits and assessments.
o. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and
contractors to
obtain network products and services.
o. Participate on cross departmental teams involved in the
planning,
development and testing of new and innovative broadband
hardware and
software products for customers.
o. Assist with the management of the company,s VOIP
telephone system.
o. Aid in the development of business continuity and
disaster recovery
plans.
o. Serve as backup to the company,s system administrator.
This is a hands-on role in an entrepreneurial environment
requiring
depth and breadth of networking experience, a high degree of
flexibility and a ,,can-do‰ attitude.
