The only thing I can say is that maybe you tried to
wean too fast? I had to wean VERY VERY VERY slowly,
and from 10mgs on downward I had to go one mg at a
time! It was pathetic watching me break up those
things into tiny little pieces, going from 1/2 to 1/4
to 1/8 (it was like powder at that point almost!) but
that was the only way I could do it. I relied a bit on
my clonazapam (which is MUCH easier to get off of!)
and spent plenty of time away from everyone, to their
relief as much as my own! I wish you all the luck in
the world, because a year ago I was in your shoes,,,,I
thought I'd never be Paxil-free...but you CAN do it!
I hope you feel better soon!

Some info for you:
Bipolar disorder certainly affects mood, but it also affects cognition and the ability to perform mental tasks.
Some days we can out-think Stephen Hawking.
Other days we make Forrest Gump look like an intellectual.

Thank you so much for responding. The clonazapam just may be a good idea right now. After reading your email, I'm not feeling so alone in this. Thank you again. Stacy

Stacy-
You sound just like me! I started having panic attacks when I was 15
and took Xanax but got addicted quickly. I went drug free for about 3
years however I didn't leave my house much. I was always really thin,
popular, pretty and no one could understand how someone who seemed so
together could walk into a room full of people and have random
thoughts of people judging them and freak out.
I have been taking paxil 6 years now and will start therapy next
month. Paxil has been god sent to me because I have come out of my
shell but I have also gained 70lbs. I have tried 5 times to get off
Paxil without any luck. Everytime I try I go through major side
effects like you.. crying, angry, nausea, panic attacks, etc... and
can't deal with it so I go back on. I have decided to talk to someone
so they can help me and also join this group. At this point, I know I
have to get off!!!!
How are you doing?
