Hello All. I so appreciate this group and everyone's candidness and
sharing. I am currently going off of Paxil for the third....AND LAST
time. Taking paxil for close to ten years has made me gain 70 pounds
and I am now considered morbidly obese. I have been unable to lose
weight after 18 months of exercise and changes to my diet. My new
bariatric physician said during our first exam, "get off the paxil or
we will never see results". On paper I am a very healthy person...low
cholesterol, low BP, good hormones, etc. But when you see my weight
and BMI there is something grossly wrong.
I had already gone down from 60mg to 40mg from January 06 to November
06. Following a very cautious titration schedule, today I am down to
10mg. I have had all of the familiar symptoms and won't pretend that I
have had it easy but I think with a good doctor, and a sound game plan
I have been able to be in control this time. I know I am saving my
life this time and it is such a great motivation. If I remain at my
current weight, statistically I have about 10 to 15 years more to
live. And only God knows what the long term effects of Paxil are on
all of us. So I figure I am killing two birds with one big fat stone.
