paxil and getting pregnant...

I'd fear BEING pregnant with Paxil in my system - with
what it can do to US, what would it do to an unborn
child???

I no longer have Paxil in my system, I've been off since November.  I did a rather quick wean (and went through hell) because I wanted to be OFF of it since reports had come out that it causes birth defects in the heart in the first trimester.  So I had gone from 60 mg to 40 mg to 20 mg and just stopped taking it.  When the dr. put me on it when I was pregnant with my 2nd baby they assured me it was safe and that I wouldn't have withdrawals and that there wasn't ill effects on the baby. ; Now that I know what withdrawals feel like, I am 99.9 percent certain that my daughter went through them as a newborn...irritability, easily startled, night sweats, etc.  I am so angry, but what can I do about that now?  I know I will NEVER!!  take Paxil again, just trying to figure out if it can/has left lasting effects, kwim?
