Last Saturday at this exact time, I was screaming at my
husband and just generally acting like a crazy lady. I have been weaning
off my Paxil for 5 months. I am down to 5mg from 40mg . This last
step down really took me for a ride and I thought I wasn’;t going to make
it. Then I realized that I had also stopped taking my natural
supplements. I went to the store and got them first thing on Monday
morning. On Wednesday, I went to my doc who doubled my thyroid hormone
and my bio-identical progesterone. I am like a different person one week
later. Here are the natural supplements that I take: Omega 3
Nutrients, Nordic Oil Fish Oil, Vitamin C, Energy Formula multi-vitamin,
Vitamin B-6 and sublingual Vitamin B-12 drops. I only use vitamins from
PhysiciansPreference.com. They are recommended by my doctor who is at the
Hotze Health
& Wellness Center
in Houston.
You can visit his website at DrHotze.com to see what his practice is all about
and if you want to find a comparable doc in your area. I also got a book
called “The Mood Cure”; by Julia Ross which is all about the
nutritional aspect of depression.
If we get off our meds, we must do something about the
original reason we were on the meds. Denise, I strongly encourage you to
do the footwork and find out about other alternatives to your depression.
You may have to go on meds until you can find a solution, but please find a
competent psychiatrist instead of a general doc if at all possible. I
have been there and I know how scary and confusing it is when you are in the
middle of the depression or manic situation or however you want to label it.
Last weekend, I got the name of a psychiatrist and left it by my telephone and
I knew I could call him anytime and schedule an appt to get on meds if these
other solutions did not help.
Good luck,
Anne M
