I've been on Paxil (presently 40 mg) for about 8 years now. Recently
during a prescription renewal my doc accidently wrote it up as Paxil CR
37 mg. I complained, got a correct perscription, but then decided to
try the CR since I had paid $40 for the meds. I won't say it was a
completely smooth transition, had about 1 day of dizzy spells. But,
after they went away I felt fine. When the CR ran out, I went back to
Paxil 40 mg and didn't have any problems at all going that way.
Of course, that's just my experience, but hopefully an indication that
you may not have major problems switching from the CR to paxil. One
thing... you talk about the generic paxil. I tried that in the past too
(insurance wanted me to use the generic) my experience with that was
much worse than my experience going from paxil to CR or back. The
generic gave me a hard time... dizzy, zaps, bad headache, etc.
I've seen people say "no difference" between paxil and generic except
the price. But some, apparently I'm among the lucky few, can't tolerate
the generic nearly as well as the brand drug.
I hope this helps. Good luck on whatever you decide.
