Well,
Each OE update/upgrade brings new functionality and
limitations. The
version I'm using (6.00.2900.2180
(xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)) automatically
opens messages in TEXT format (which is EXACTLY what I want
it to do). When
I receive one that I fully trust and wish to view in HTML
format, I just
press ALT + SHIFT + H. If I then move to another message
and then back
again, it's back to TEXT only, again EXACTLY the way I want
it.
The reason for the caution with HTML formatted messages
is lengthy and
well documented all over the web, but I'll toss out one of
them here for ya.
Until recently, I was stuck without phone service (and
therefore my own
connection to the internet) for over three years. Now that
I'm back, I see
and feel a MUCH stronger and persistent threat of
'infection' than there was
before my 'unwelcomed vacation'. Before I left, I only had
AV and Firewall
running full time while occasionally running a Spyware app
more out of
curiosity. I now have to run multiple SPAM, Spyware,
Firewall, Phishing &
Virus filter programs just to feel somewhat safe from the
onslaught. (And I
most definitely practice better Safe Surfing techniques than
I ever did
before)
Peace,
GMan
