Amen to DSL...I got a really good deal thru my phone
co...don't know if it
will still be as good come time to renew but it's shades
better than what I
had...and $13. less to boot.
I would bet it's downloading IE7...BIGggg file. I wouldn't
get that were it
me....too many bugs I am hearing about.. eventually I think
it will be a
necessity cause someday they will stop updating 6.. but not
now........

Sounds like your Windows update. Since you're on dial-up, it
can only work
when you're connected to the internet. Sounds like something
big, maybe IE
seven if you don't already have it. I didn't think I could
ever afford
anything but dial-up, but I just got DSL and I love it!
After talking to
the phone company I got it bundled with my phone service so
that it will
only increase my phone bill by twenty dollars a month. I was
paying $10 for
dial-up, so it's only $10 more. I'll never go back, I've had
dial-up ever
since I got my computer, didn't know what I was missing.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- automatic updates
I have the little icon sitting in the notification area and
it has only
loaded up to 7% after several days. Do I have to stay
connected to the
internet for it to complete the download? I unchecked
automatic dialup
after the kids were home and told me it was dialing up in
the middle of the
night. Do I need to check that so it will dial up in order
to get these
updates on a more timely basis? The icon is yellow and
shaped like a shield
Is that Windows or Norton? I should know this but
sometimes the old brain
just bums out!
