On the quick launch bar, there is an icon that you can
click on and it will
immediately bring you to your desktop.

I am not sure how this happened, but my other have must have
deleted his.
How does he get it back?

He went to the Desktop folder, opened it and right clicks,
but there is no
send to button. There is no Desktop icon in that folder.

If he goes up a level and right clicks on the desktop folder
itself, he can
send a shortcut to the desktop. But, when you click on that
icon..the
Desktop FOLDER opens.

There is not show desktop folder icon.
Thanks in advance...

This happened to me not too long ago. Try this
To resolve the problem, type this command from Start, Run
dialog:
IE4UINIT.EXE

The above command creates the Quick Launch folder
automatically, if
it is missing in the above location. Now, try to enable the
Quick
Launch bar. If the same error occurs, it's caused by another
issue
(due to a malware removal), type these two commands:

    REGSVR32
/i SHELL32.DLL

    REGSVR32
/i BROWSEUI.DLL

Restart Windows and enable the Quick Launch Toolbar.

Tricia,

The quick launch bar is there. Just the desktop looking
icon that is
there..brings up the Desktop folder...NOT the desktop.
Guess I was not
clear..sorry.

The IE4INIT.EXE did not work. We ran this with the quick
launch bar showing
and again when it was not. The same with the ones below.
We rebooted after
each command too.

The other two commands gave me an error...REGSVR32/i not
found.
There is a REGSVR32 in the windows directory -
I am assuming the line to type was REGSVR32/i Shell32.DLL
was one item to
type. and the other was
REGSVR32/i BROWSEUI.DLL)
I mean..there is a space between the i and shell in the
first one and a
space between the i and browse in the second one.
Caps or non caps do not matter...right?

Thanks for trying....... Appreciate your help... If I did
something
wrong..holler...
We did a search for the REGSCR32 and found nothing in the

Manual steps to re-create the Show Desktop icon on the Quick
Launch toolbar

The Show Desktop icon is not an ordinary program shortcut.
If the icon is
deleted, the procedure for re-creating the icon is not
obvious. To manually
re-create the Show Desktop icon, follow these steps:

      1. Click Start , click Run, type notepad, and then
click OK.
      2. In Notepad, type the following text on individual
lines:
      [Shell]
      Command=2
      IconFile=explorer.exe,3
      [Taskbar]
      Command=ToggleDesktop
      3. On the File menu, click Save As, and then save the
file to your
desktop as Show Desktop.scf.

Note Notepad might automatically append a .txt
extension to the file
name. Remove this extension if present. The file name should
be "Show
Desktop.scf"

The file must now be moved to the correct folder in the user
profile to
appear in the Quick Launch toolbar.

      1. Use the right mouse button to drag the Show
Desktop.scf icon from
the desktop to the Quick Launch toolbar or another location
where you want
the shortcut to appear.
      2. Click Move Here.

Peace,
GMan

BLESS YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Jerry is very happy and grateful!

He wants to know how you know all this stuff. I just said
you were born a
genius. You can make beautiful stationery and fix
computers...and do tile &
carpeting and are a wonderful husband so in love with your
wife. (He added
smart alec to the list - tee hee!)

Wow! You sound like a man for all women...! (and men too!)

Do not worry BabyDoll, I have my guy (and I am not trading
him in! -
Nothing Kinky meant here! ha ha!)
As long as GMan is willing to share his talents on line...
we are very
happy!
Thanks again,
Rose

Hahahaha!!!
First of all, I've never made a stat in my life. I joined
that group just
to see what it was all about. I immediately saw all sort of
computer
problem complaints and no one answering the questions. So I
started helping
them set up their systems better for stat making. Remember
how that one OE
upgrade (5.0, I think) threw everyone into a tizzy when
stats would no
longer work as designed? I got to the bottom of that and
wrote my very
first tutorial. lol

Secondly, I can install all hard flooring (ceramic,
hardwood, laminate,
linoleum, VCT, vinyl, etc.), but I don't do carpeting.
That's for those
guys who don't care about their knees.

Thirdly, well, I guess I AM a bit of a smart alec, but that
doesn't make me
a bad guy, does it?           ;O}

Finally, I'll let you all in on a little secret.
<whispers>I don't know everything.

Some of this stuff, I have to look up before I reply.
<shhhhhh>

Peace,
GMan

I'm no genius. I got them from the same MS site, Jo Ann.
   ;O)

My talent lies in knowing where to look for the answers when
I don't already
know them.

And we're getting a snow/rain/ice mix here in lower
Michigan. YUK!
