How to Dual-Boot Vista with XP -
Step-by-Step Guide With Screenshots
http://www.apcstart.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista

Scenario:
You want to install Vista alongside an XP installation,
on the same drive.

Tutorial Summary:
We're going to use GParted to shrink the Windows XP
partition on the hard=
disk and create enough space for an installation of Vista.
We'll then=
install Vista and use the EasyBCD utility to tell Vista's
bootloader to=
refer to XP by its name.

This tutorial was carried out on a Windows-XP based system
running on a=
200GB hard drive which started with the XP partition taking
up the entire=
 drive.

I take it GParted will allow me to partition my 250 GB hard

drive into smaller partitions? I hope so because I love
free
programs.

Yes I think it will do that:

http://gparted.source
forge.net/
GParted is an industrial-strength package for creating,
destroying,=
resizing, moving, checking and copying partitions, and the
filesystems on=
them. This is useful for creating space for new operating
systems,=
reorganizing disk usage, copying data residing on hard
disks and mirroring=
one partition with another (disk imaging).

Hi Judith,
yes Partition Logic is similar to Gparted and Partition
Magic

Acronis is a backup tool/program not a partitioning tool.

I can't hold your hand through the others as I have to
read the how too's myself when I use Partition Magic

The older I get the more I forget<G>
