Hank,
Unless you hear some loud clicking or scraping sounds
coming from the
drive, it's most likely fine. As far as I know, hard drives
move data
faster than a USB 1.1 pipe can handle. My suggestion would
be to purchase
an internal USB 2.0 PCI card and connect the external drive
to that.
