-=PCTechTalk=- Backing up to DVD

Hello all,
Can I back up all file types to DVD. If so, this sure
would cut down on
the number of disks I'd need. I have documents, pictures,
music, and movies.
Also, can all types be burned to the same disk?
Thanks,

HB

HB,

Yes, you can. I just did a backup of all my MP3s, pictures,
my
Documents, and downloaded programs the other day. Took 4
DVDs instead of
a dozen CDRs.

Hank,

My Roxio does that, but I just did what one would hold at a
time. It
also gives you the option of not splitting files.

can roxio 6 do this?
version 6 is the latest one that works with my screen
reader
version 7 and above does not work
they changed the interface and broke the functionality that
allows roxio to
work with screen reader

Then I think you should complain loud and strong to Roxio.
Adobe had a class action suit against them for this very
reason
and had to change their software to accommodate screen
readers.

This is what made me determined never to buy an Adobe
product.
I'm not blind but I appreciate my eyes because I am an
artist.
Therefore, I will not do business with a corporation so
arrogant they had to be sued before they would do anything.

HB,
This has already been answered, but I thought I'd chime
in with a
suggestion that might make things a little easier for ya in
the long run.

If you haven't done it already, it may be in your best
interest to take
the time to separate some of the different types of files
you're looking to
save to disk. A single DVD can hold up to 4.7GB of data
(different types of
DVDs vary in their capacity, so check your before counting
on this). I
generally burn my MP3's onto disks by themselves so they're
all in one
place. I also do the same thing with my DBX files from
Outlook Express
(which total nearly 7GB by themselves). I burn my entire My
Documents
folder in one sweep, but it doesn't contain any of the above
items. Those
are saved to other partitions. I also burn whatever I need
to save any
other files I might want to keep, but those disks are just
for temporary
storage.

Peace,
GMan
