Troth,

You're right as usual Late last
night, UPS told me it will be here
today. Have downloaded the mobo manual and will be reading
it. Will be
putting it together over the weekend. I'm sure I'll need
some help
before it's done. Any words of advice before I start?

remembered what it said, but at the very LAST screen before
you press the button to actually submit the order, you will
see it say something like YOUR ORDER WILL BE DELIVERED IN
ONE BUSINESS DAY (or 3, or whatever). Majority of the time
with Newegg, as long as the order was placed before 5:00, I
usually get it the next day. That statement there will tell
you when you will get it, and it has never been wrong for
me.

hmmm... words of advice... well, take your time, and don't
be afraid to take a break if something's not working out the
way you'd like it.
In all honesty, building the computer is actually very easy.
Sure, intimidating if you've never done it before, but easy
none-the-less. As a first-timer, I would google
"building a pc" and just have something right next
to you to use as a reference to make sure you didn't miss
anything.

Always make sure you're grounded as you work on the system.
If you don't ground yourself (which I never do, and is a bad
habit) just make sure you are always constantly touching
something that IS grounded. For example, if I am building
next to one of my other computers, I will constantly touch
the tower of that otehr computer to drain any static.

Don't forget the thermal paste, as it would suck to remove
the CPU after everything is built because you forgot to add
the paste.

And... while everyone will give you different opinions and
methods of what THEY do, here is what I usually do.

I will put the tower, PSU, mobo, video card, RAM,
CPU/heatsink and keyboard all together and nothing else (do
not forget the keyboard. No HD, no floppy, no CD/DVD...
nothing else. You can have the other items physically in the
tower, just don't connect them to the mobo yet. I then turn
on the computer and see if it starts up properly and goes to
the screen that says hit whatever to go into setup. Then go
into setup, which is the BIOS, and look for an option
somewhere that says load OPTIMAL settings. Do that, then
shut down, restart. After restart, doesn't matter whether or
not you go into the BIOS again. Just shut down, and assuming
you got no errors about memory or anything already in there,
then go ahead and attach everything else. NOTE... you WILL
get errors this way, but the errors you will get are errors
on what you might not have installed.. like a HD, no OS, no
MOUSE, etc. That's ok.
