It is quite possible thatyour four memory slots
are in two banks of two
each.
If you will go to www.crucial.com and run the
system scan they offer or
maunally enter the make and model of your
computer it will tell you exactly
what your configuration is.
Please check with Gateway to see what the maximum
amount of RAM is that the
computer will support. The Motherboard may allow
up to x GB of Ram but
Gateway may have limited it to 2 or some other
figure.
If you have 2 banks of 2 slots you will need to
install two memory sticks at
a time. If you have 4 banks of 1 slot you will
be able to install one stick
at a time.
It appears that all 4 of your slots are filled
right now. To increase you
RAM you will need to empty one bank so you can
install more RAM.
