Mike,
I just dumped NSW my self to install TIS. Have
you had any complications?
Specifically, a severe slow down.

PcScnSrv.exe and PcCtlCom.exe are the major
culprits on my desktop. No such
problems on my two laptops.

TM appears to blame Spybot S&D but I don't have
that installed.

Also, you might still have some Norton installed
including a lot of useless
registry entries.

If you have not checked device drivers yet go to
Device manager and click
view and show hidden devices. Scroll down to
non-Plug and play devices.
Look for anything that has "sym" or other common
Symantec/Norton abbrev. in
the name.

You will likely find at least one item there
unless you've already been
there and uninstalled it. (symlcbrd is one, you
may find others.) Even
nortons uninstall utility does not remove it or
the registry entries
mentioned above.

Hi Don,
I did not run the Trend PcCillin Internet Security
on this computer it was run on 2 of my Vista RC2
test machines before Vista became final.

It or Vista RC had a 'killbit' in it so it would no longer
work on the Vista Beta builds.

So far none of the Internet Security Suites will run
on Vista Beta.

My suspicion is that MS changes something during
the updates to make it identify all the ISSuites as
incompatible with the Beta versions.

I was able to install the free
Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic
http://www.free-av.com/

Even though I did experience several "this program
is not compatible with this build of Vista" messages.

Now to find a firewall<G> I don't trust the Microsoft

one as it assumes that any program you have
down loaded or installed should be allowed to phone
home, or report to wherever.
*This is what spyware/malware/virus, does.

I'm still waiting to get a new computer, like I really
need another to join the 5 I currently have in use.

I was in Costco today and the 60" screen kept calling
my name.
Perhaps a Vista Premium laptop with that screen would
cure the itch<VBG>

Cheers
