Hi Group, my friend keeps getting an error message that
reads: "IE has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We're sorry for
any
inconvenience. It then gives options to send report or
don't send.
When you click don't send it closes everything back to the
desktop. If
you choose to "send report" it prepares an error
report, shows that it's
completed, then you click close. Then the bad message comes
back again.
My computer does this occasionally, but not often, but my
friend can't
even go on the internet now without this message popping up.
 When she
opens IE, Yahoo pops up; when I open IE I get aol.com. Can
anyone
explain the difference and why she keeps getting that error
message? I
know nothing about that kind of stuff. TIA ~Glo

When SHE opens IE, Yahoo comes up. When YOU open it, you get
AOL. Could be that you two are using your own user profiles,
in which case each one of you have your own IE preferences
(ie. homepage, bookmarks, preferences, etc). Or, if not
separate profiles, you tow can be using different shortcuts
to open IE, in which case each shortcut is actually
responsible for where you're going to.
Regarding the crashes you're getting... that's really hard
to diagnose by just knowing it crashes. It could be a
million things. Very often, since it crashes on opening IE,
it could be a BHO (Browser Helper Object) that is attached
to your browser to open when the browser opens, and its
either failing or clashing with another BHO or app. And,
more often than not, its an adware or spyware BHO.

Have you tried running any spyware apps to see if your
system is clean?
