Hello,
I have a question about outlook express email. I recently
transfered
data/files and all from one computer to another. I have an
OE folder from
my old computer. I am currently using OE on my present
computer.

How do I access the email I saved from my inbox from the old
computer?

thanks,

Cristy,

1. If there are any messages presently in the Inbox,
right click on the
Inbox and select New Folder from the menu. Call it '!!!!'
without the
quotes. Click Ok.

2. Move all messages from the Inbox to the new folder
(!!!!).

3. Click on the new folder and make sure the messages
arrived there
safely (actually, this step is to UN-highlight the Inbox).

4. Run a Search with ".DBX" in the Named field.
 Note the location of
your OE storage folder (it will most likely have your
username as a folder
in the path statement). (write it down for future
reference, too)

5. Open Windows Explorer and go to your OE storage
folder. Copy the old
Inbox.dbx file directly into this folder. When asked if you
wish to
overwrite, click Yes.

6. Back in OE, click on your Inbox to see your old
messages. Click on
the !!!! folder, select all files and then drag one of them
into the Inbox.
Once the !!!! folder is empty, delete it.

Peace,
GMan

HI Gman,

Im confused but very tired tonight. Do you mean to go to
the inbox file of
my oldpc OE files? They are dbx files (the ones I want to
be able to open
and read).

Christine

Christine,
I'm sorry. I'm also tired and I should have been much
clearer on that.

The first three are to be done from inside OE (playing
with OE's
folders, not its DBX files), the next two are outside OE
(search your hard
drive & copy the file to where the rest of the DBX files
reside) and the
last one is back in OE (test the 'fix').

Peace,
GMan
