Tom, you can change all drive letters EXCEPT the boot
partition. I've
had systems where I've changed drive letters for drives,
mainly using a
partition manager like Partition Magic, but the boot
partition always
remains unchanged regardless if it is C: or F: or Z:.
Plus you must change all drive mappings for all installed
software as
well. Powerquest (now Symantec) has a great tool called
Drive Mapper
that does this for you.
The CMOS does put the first partition on the master as C:
and the first
partition on the slave as D:
I think Drive Image 7, also from Powerquest has Drive Mapper
too.
