I have a laptop at home that we use to remotely connect to
another
computer in another town. The printer at the laptop location
is a Dell
A920 all in one type and it does not show up when using the
remote
desktop computer. I have tried with an HP all in one type
also and it
acts the same way. Does anyone know if there is a way around
this
without buying another printer? I can not seem to find
anything on Dells
site. (so far)
Thanks

Its not the printer necessarily, but the settings in your
computer. You
need to Share the printer in the one that it is located,
then install a
Remote printer on the other. Note the name of the printer
when you set
up the share. Now go to the second and add a network
printer. You may
have to try more than one of the three methods to set it up.
 I just
finished that with my new laptop. I have had the printer
set for share
and still could not get it to connect on the old laptop.
This new one
did not have all the trials etc so I went directly to the
second window
of the setup so that I put in the other computers name
(preceeded with
\\ ) and then then name of the computer followed by
\printer name. It
would look like this

\\other computer name\network printer name

Be sure to bring up the printer after installing, select
properties and
you can run a test print to see if its working.
