I disagree.
My productivity is based on how quickly and reliably I
receive my email.
I pay for a hosting company to ensure I receive all email
intended for me.
If I don't ask for filtering, it should not be in place.
If a customer can not get through to me because of this
filter, I lose.
I lost 100 + emails in two days because of this filtering.
Luckily I could
go to the archives and check the emails there, but still a
pain and more
time consuming. When they block a whole IP address, they are
blocking many
domains.
Black lists are NOT legitimate. They are a scam, scamming
money from the
companies that use their services.
I use Outlook filtering which is enough for me and I have
the option of
scanning through those emails.
Perhaps it means nothing to you if you lose some emails, but
I have some
very important emails that come to me every day.
This has not happened only once, but many times. This site
has blocked
Earthlink users, AOL users and more.

Why? Black lists are a legitimate way of banning email and
IP addresses,
the fact that they inconvenience a few is less important
than the many they
protect.

Someone must have mistakenly reported an email as being sp*m
and sp*mcop
have added it to their lists. An email from the site
concerned should get
the ban
swiftly lifted.

On average, my email filtered through sp*mcop results in 2
sp*m emails per
month.
I think the odd missed email is a small price to pay for
such a success
rate.
It seems an odd decision to attack sp*mcop for succeeding.
Like any database
it can only be as good as the information it contains, and
yes there will be
times
when it blocks emails that are not sp*m. But let's not
shoot the wrong guys,
and
let's not make them so ineffective that email once more
becomes a scourge
rather
than an a mild annoyance.
