        It sounds like the output level is low.
If you have integrated video, the video chip
could be defective, or the voltage to it could
have dropped.  Also the output connector
could be defective.  
          If you have a video board,
it could be subject to the same fate.  You
should try changing the video board or
installing one if you are using integrated
video.
