Since I (foolishly) upgraded to IE7, I frequently get a
"403 Forbidden"
message on Web pages where I hope to download trial
software.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Solutions?

Thanks.

G'day Dale and Everyone

Easy fix Dale - don't use the useless heap of -- well you
know what.
Change over to a decent browser. Firefox is still not under
near the
number of attacks that IE is, it is updated far more quickly
and
regularly and is not as vulnerable in the first place. I
also have
Opera loaded and like a lot of its features, although I
don't like the
integrated e-mail client.

If you really must persist with that other lump[ of thrown
together
code, I think you may have to lower your security settings,
but it is so
long since I used it, I cant remember where you would find
the menu to
do that. No doubt some one on this list will.

Seasons greetings to all from not quite burnt out Gippsland
Au, in
beautiful sunny summer.

I run the Zone alarm security suite. Lately I've run into
several sites
that won't let me download unless I lower the privacy
setting in Zone Alarm.
If you are running just the Zone Alarm firewall I'm not sure
if it has
privacy settings. If it doesn't try lowering the privacy
settings on IE7
just while you get the download. My IE 7 privacy is set at
medium and
hasn't given me any troubles.

Actually, IE7 isn't too bad. I don't like the arrangement
of the tabs and
the toolbars that Microsoft in it's infinite wisdom decided
to offer. It
wouldn't have taken them any work to make it much more
flexible but it's
certainly been stable on my computers.

403 just means you don't have permission to access the page.
Give us
some examples so we can see what might be going on.
IE7 is probably a good upgrade, and I've seen very little
negative about it.
