Hi Jeff,
I've been busy the last couple of days, so haven't had a
chance yet to
download Thunderbird. I think I might give that a try. If I
don't like
it, I could always switch back to Outlook. For now I just
made an extra
folder called Junk and I'm filtering all the spam into that.
Of course I
have to go in and delete it all, but at least it's not in my
inbox or
any of my other many folders. I'm trying to find a way to do
this
without switching email addresses. I also have to unsub from
a couple of
lists that I don't really read the mail from anymore due to
lack of
time. One such list used to be great- it is an ipaq list and
once upon a
time it was really helpful. Now that list is littered with
spam and it
seems no one is moderating it. I'm going to leave it and
find another
ipaq or ppc list.
I don't know why, but it seems like this was the only list
getting that
email from Comodo. One of my other lists I get hundreds of
emails a day,
and not one person mentioned it. Either they weren't getting
the email
or they just ignored it (or hit reply to it?). But I'm glad
that it was
pointed out to me because I wouldn't have known otherwise.
Lisa

Lisa,
The only way to get rid of SPAM is to stay of the Internet.
If you are getting a lot of SPAM, try changing email
addresses and be
careful where you post your new email address. I change mine
about every
two years when my SPAM gets out of control. Fact is, of all
the lists I
am on, I do not respond to these emails when I get them. The
only person
that hurst is the person that was hoping for a response. It
seems the
companies that appear to offer aggressive methods to its
customers to
combat SPAM are the ones that are selling email addresses.
AOL,
Earthlink, Hotmail are a few bigguns! Jeff

A few things: First, I've been on this list for YEARS - you
think
someone would have known who I was? I know I don't post that
often, but
I have posted a lot over the years, and Clint, you are one
of the people
who have helped me a lot. I would never try to spam someone
on purpose!
That's the whole idea of me getting this program to begin
with. I was
using NIS 2006 and it HAD an antispam filter for a long
time, then they
took it out. I wish they didn't. I have NIS 2007 and it
doesn't have the
spam filter. Do you have any suggestions on a better one? I
have been
looking and can't find one. I tried to add your email
address to the
allowed list on this antispam program (Comodo Antispam 2005)
and it says
you're already on the list. How do I add a whole list's
email address
without having to add people individually? I'm on another
list that gets
a LOT of email and I have to keep adding people
individually. I get a
lot of email, so I get a lot of spam. I'm not trying to pass
spam on
others, I'm trying to get rid of it. I use Outlook for my
email because
my Pocket PC synchronizes with it. If you can help me,
please do, but it
hurt when you suggested knocking me off the list - thanks a
lot!
Lisa

I'm inclined to agree with Hugh, sorry Lisa.
I thought I answered your comment in my original post, but
here
it is again:
"I DO NOT reply to these because these places
blackmail/extort you into
using them. Once they get your email address, they will
then start
sending YOU various BS (that's Spam)."
Optonline.net is one of the worse USA ISP's as far as Spam
goes. 2nd or 3rd maybe to Comcast, Cogencto and maybe
Verizon.
More UCE comes FROM these ISP's than any other. I have been
forced to block more of the latter 3's IP addresses with my
email filters than any other in the USA, that's how bad it
is.
I would tell your ISP you need a new email address from
them,
and if you were careful about your original address, TELL
THEM
this; it's been believed that these aforementioned ISP's
actually SELL their members' email addresses to nefarious
places.
Isn't there a way you can add this list's email address to
some
whitelist?
