Back in the days of the "Commodore 64",
the frequency of the tone generator and musical
scale generator was so accurate that I was able
to use it for piano tuning.
Does anyone know of a way that the modern PC
can be used with the same accuracy for checking
and calibrating the tones of musical instruments?

Adobe Audition, and its predecessor, CoolEdit, have
tone-generation
functions.
