Hi Harold,

You are positively obsessive, in a nice way and I understand
it completely.

How are you opening these folders? I have shortcuts to
certain folders and
these open in the same size that they were when they were
closed. Each
folder retains it's own individual setting. So if I open a
C:\Program files
shortcut, resize it, then close it, when I reopen it, it is
the size that it
was when I closed it. This goes for any of my shortcuts to
folders.
Windows also remembers screen position.

The "apply this to all folders" setting in
folder options does not effect
this at all. The "apply to all folders" only
applies to tool bar
arrangements and things like details, or icon, etc. As far
as I can tell
the "remember each folders" setting does not
effect this either.

I'm sure there is a limit to how many of these settings
windows will
remember. That registry change Clint told you about may
have an effect on
that but I don't know that for sure. Every once in a while
I'll open a
shortcut to a folder and it won't be the size it should be.
 I just assume
that I've reached the limit on remembered settings and
windows has deleted
the oldest setting.

So the only way I know to get all folders to open up the
same size is to
open them all resize and close them. But then you are going
to run into the
problem of windows not remembering enough settings.

Now I'm sure that somewhere in the windows software code
there is a setting
for the default size of an explorer window but I've never
seen anyone talk
about being able to change this.

There is a shareware program that will do this for you, I
think. I haven't
tried it. Take a look at
http://www.actualtools.com/articles/detail.php?ID=919.
  It's $40. If you
buy it Harold, you are truly obsessed. Some
settings in windows are
reinitialized at every boot so changing the setting in one
session won't
carry over after a reboot. This program may reset sizes
every time you
reboot.

Ben

And with all this, I still can't get my folders to open
at whatever size I

wish. Maybe someday I'll find an answer . ---
