Funny how different people have different perspectives. I
seldomly
use something that's available in 5.8 that wasn't already
present
in 5.6. In fact, I would have to dive into the manual to
find out
what's new in 5.8.

As for 5.10, things I'm looking forward to (in no particular
order):
my $_, state, give/when/~~, //, stacked file tests,
fieldhashes,
and a dozen exciting new regexp features.

I guessed the serious problems were ithreads and unicode,
but there  
was a demand from unicode users, win32 users and embedders.

I seldom use neither.
