Dual-lifing B?

I'd like my recent patch to B to be available to perls
younger than
5.10. I imagine this means I'm stuck dual-lifing it. Are
there any
objections to this?

I'd really like to make use of the changes immediately in
Runops::Trace for use on my 5.8.7 at work, honestly. I'd
also like to
update these other CPAN modules to use the new version and
cut out a
pile of code in the process.

Not from me. Please go for it.
I have been aiming to get to this.
I'm not sure what would be needed, apart from shipping the
opcode "assembler"
files for both 5.8.x and 5.10

I guess separating out the (dead) compiler backends would be
a start.
Can B be upgraded in 5.8.x without breaking the B compiler
modules?
