This is a bug report for perl from aroncs.umu.se,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.35 running under perl
v5.8.8.

------------------------------------------------------------
-----
When running perl with -W, -w or "use warnings;",
Perl should warn if exec
is followed by another statement which is not die, warn or
exit. However, if
you try to assign the return value of exec to a variable,
this warning never
gets issued, even though the documentation says that it
should.

Example 1: (Warning issued)
exec("ls");
print "Foo";

Example 2: (No warning issued)
my $var = exec("ls");
print "$var";
