Hello,
I have had, since a few weeks ago, legal access to
pre-release seeds
of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and today I have actually gotten
round to
exploiting this to test bleadperl and/or other things.
Specifically,
what I have installed right now is build 9A527, which is
about 2
months old; while much newer ones can be downloaded (6GB a
pop), I
stayed with this for the moment since I have a disk for it.
I don't know whether any of you also have Leopard
pre-releases, but
if not, hopefully my testing may help you. That said, the
final
version will be out in a week, so soon lots of people should
be able
to test with the version that actually matters.
To summarize, I rsynced blead about an hour ago, and did a
configure/make with all the default options. My test
machine is
June-1997 LED-screen Macbook Pro, the gcc is 4.0.1.
All tests passed but for two:
t/op/pwent......FAILED at test 1
lib/locale......FAILED at test 99
Failed 2 tests out of 1384, 99.86% okay.
Some tests also skipped, but I ignored those.
I have not yet tested the same blead under a different
machine/os.
If the two test failures above don't occur to others, then
they may
be specific to the Leopard build; if they occur to others,
then
probably not.
Note that I did not explicitly set any environment variables
in
advance of doing this test, not even locale related ones.
If you need more information, then let me know; otherwise
I'll submit
another blead test when I have a newer Leopard seed and/or
the final
version.
Note that, since the final/public Leopard is supposed to be
out in
just one week, I am assuming that Perl 5.10.0 final won't be
released
until after the combination is known to work.
