Executing a block before modules are loaded

Hi everyone,
;           ;      How do I tell perl to execute a statement before it does anything else? For example, I have a bunch of use statements and I have a create directory statement right after it. I want perl to execute the create dir command before it even begins loading the modules, how do I get perl to do that? Someone suggested using the BEGIN block but that did not work for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
