As long as the subroutine is not the same name as a built-in, *and* you have
either declared/defined the subroutine earlier or have trailing parens, the
leading & is not necessary.
Robert, Since the question was already answered correctly earlier, and your
answer was misleading and wrong, perhaps you should sit back and relax in this
group for a while, or at least test your answers before answering. That'll
save us from having to correct your answers, and newbies from wondering if
it's them or you with the mistake, because in this case, it was you. Your
enthusiasm is appreciated, but your answer is a net loss to the group.
