I replaced the corrupted default faces in /usr/share/faces
with non-corrupted
ones and did a soft reboot(kexec). The same error message
still occurs:
Feb 28 14:00:56 **** kdm_greet[2894]: Can't open default
user face

It appears, ATT, that the problem is duplicated in
/usr/share/mdk/faces:

Other newly created files in that dir are okay.

This corruption causes an error at boot:
Feb 27 20:08:26 **** kdm_greet[29981]: Can't open default
user face

It also causes usability interference because unless user
replaces the default image, no image can be used since the
default is to assign the default image to a (new) user.


I downloaded and installed the source rpm(
desktop-common-data-2007.1-2mdv2007.1.src ).  
There appear to be a lot of corrupted files. This is the
list from the faces dir:

And, in fact, those images will not display.

I checked other files in other dirs of the src.rpm and all
others I checked were OK.
