Yes, those are some of basic problems key-servers cause (in their
present and long-term past condition -- and still being not fixed in the
course of all those years, this is interesting), making them pretty much
dysfunctional, and not of a great benefit/service to the "PGP
community".

On the other, a "primal", hand, it is encouraged in an intermediary way
by force of the unhappy habit that Web Of Trust itself is still
calculated in a basically mechanical -- and thus in the context pretty
primitive and ineffective although fascinating to many -- way (of
limited mathematical logic) which has not much with the real life, real
situations and real persons, people. This way we get actually a false
feeling of "trust", which makes such WOTs technically useless and even
misleading.

This and such mechanism is even built-in into the crypto software,
supporting thus and encouraging the whole this and such conception
(which is not much immaculate/errorless), and hence should be removed
completely from it.

***

Well, I know how it may sound to many "followers" of such WOTs and
mechanisms, and how much it might upset them and shake their faith in
their already (jerry?)built monumental but only on appearance solid and
reliable WOT edifices, but sooner or later they will anyway have to face
it, for their own benefit, especially if a tsunami or an honest
hurricanes are prowling around (which actually happens indeed).

I did already plan to give a shorter synopsis on this some 2 or 3 months
ago, but had to reschedule it due to more urgent things emerging happily
and merrily I had to give priority to, namely to learn how to build a
"custom" GnuPG and to work on related documentation (it can be all found
via my PGP URLs given in the signature part of my messages, who is
interested in) -- but now I am pretty much free to get back on this and
accomplish the task.

To the more sensitive ones, who are prone to panic attacks and/or
depression, and thus to related, violent and/or whining, reactions, be
they real experts or not, I suggest to consult the work of Kurt Gödel
firstly (particularly his Incompleteness Theory), of the mathematician
working and hanging with Einstein at the Institute for Advanced Study
(the merry US) once upon a time, which will give them the necessary
base, stability and confidence to consume this matter, mentally and
emotively, and possibly even spiritually, and thus to prevent a more
massive shocks resulting due to the unexpected turn[s] (for the better
of course).

This said synopsis of mine will appear here under the title/subject "A
Résumé On The Logic And Mathematics Applied In PGP Environment And
Related Software", and will not be a subject to a "discussion"; but
rather just what it is, a summary, résumé of a finalized work on
analysis of the non-crypto elements (in this case WOT) in the context of
crypto software, with the related consequences, a summary of which one
can have some benefits, if is prone to sit and consider the matter in (a
relative) peace, fearlessly, twitchlessly and honestly.

I hope you are all well and decently kicking, and that your spouses and
pets are pleased and delighted with it. (:
