BTW, this is another key server to add to my others. I
didn't know about
this one and hence had not found either keys until now.
For those using GPGShell, how do I add that keyserver so
that I have it
to query in the GPGKeys dialog window (status bar)? I've
had a look
around and not seen how to modify that list of servers. The
list there
seems to be different from that seen in the separate
'Search for Keys'
dialog invoked via GPGTray.

Well, you can hack them in the registry under
HKCU\Software\VB and VBA Program
Settings\GPGshell\GPGkeys.
--OR--
Launch GPGkeys. Preferences --> GnuPG. On the General
tab, about 1/2 way down,
to the right of Keyserver box click on 'Change
List-Entries'. Make changes.
Click 'OK' twice to commit changes.
BTW, random.sks.keyserver.penguin.de is a SKS keyserver. If
you already have one
in your list, there is no real benefit of adding a second
other than possible
connectivity issues. The SKS software reconciles key changes
between servers
quite efficiently and speedily.

Of course, GPGshell limits one to 5 Keyservers using this
method. Since
I have a selection 'slightly' larger, I much prefer the
Enigmail option
which allows unlimited(?) Keyserver List length.
While I am able to only select 1 'Default' Keyserver for
routine use, I
can always check the 'Red Pen' and try another with just a
few clicks.

I am having to re-build my KeyServer List because I wiped
clean my
Laptop's HDD. This KeyServer that we are talking about
here, I have
entered in PGP as an HTTP KeyServer using port 11371, but it
does not seem
to pick up anyone's Key that is participating in this
thread.
Do I have my port number right? Is there something about
that KeyServer
that I am missing? I am presuming that SKS simply stands for
"synchronizing KeyServer", correct?

Hello Nick,
"PGP Keyserver HTTP", server name, and port
11371 is how mine are setup in PGP.
Try minsky.surfnet.nl, ksks.keyserver.penguin.de, or
sks.dnsalias.net.
Problems with a DNS round-robin server list are difficult to
diagnose since
there is no guarantee that two queries will resolve to the
same address.
BTW, my keys are also on pgp.mit.edu.

Correct. SKS is just the name of the server software, just
like PKS before it.
SKS came about as the 'proof-of-concept' of Yaron
Minsky's PhD dissertation. It
strives for full OpenPGP standard compliance. It addresses
and fixes the many
problems that PKS has with mangling of V4 keys.
