It turned out to be my AVG Email Scanner! Turned it off and things
began working just Great. Seems that BellSouth already scans everything
that enters my Inbox there so maybe I don't need it. Of course, I still
retrieve mail for other sources so I'll be looking for another Free A/V
Program.
Any Suggestions? Please, no "Switch to Linux" Comments.

If you are using Windows, try the ClamWin version of the Linux ClamAV
program.
Its free (both as in free beer and freedom), open source, and very
good. Get it at:

Clamwin is a good program but I have found that it's extreamly SLOW,
needs to be sped up by at least 50%.

IMO You should never trust a ISP's mail scanner It'll either give a
"false positive" or let through something that it shouldn't
Have you tried the AVG forums to see if someone else has/had your problem?
I run AVG on 2 different ISP's in T-Bird w/no problems..(They both
scan the e-mails)

Did just that...even though the Free AVG has no Support, they
recommended I Remove my installation and Re-Install letting AVG detect
my new LAN configuration (LAN meaning Ethernet) and then Update.
Did that and all is well again. Would've taken forever with Dial-Up
just to get the Updates, but with DSL took about 20 minutes.
I'm back with Software I'm familiar with and Trust.
