I am sorry for this typo I didn't notice. On the new
keyboard I got, "S"
and "Z" are next to each other for English, and
yet the left "Shift"
button is sawedoff to make room for additional button in
this row. Being
a fast typist I still am not accustomed to the slightly new
fingering/feeling in this corner. My left pinkie is still
confused a
trifle and it confuses the next ring finger too.

Thanks, Mica. I'll be waiting. I was just interested in
testing the
Tiger Hash with the newly installed GnuPG 1.4.3rc1.

This version has, as I know, by default chosen the
"old TIGER" hash
algorithm, the one compatible with PGP 2.6. I do not use
this one but
the "new" one, implemented in some versions of
GnuPG (1.2.3-nr1 for
instance).

I also have one GPG 1.4.3rc1 version, but although being
instructed that
the "new TIGER" is enabled by command
"--newtiger", I can't get it to
work here this way and the "oldtiger" remains
enabled.

If you, or someone else, have idea how to fix it, my
gratefulness is
ready to be activated. She is, therefore, in a stand-by
state.

As for the testing, I'll sign this part of the message
using new TIGER,
and the part bellow using the old one (coming by default
with 1.4.3rc1
version).

The below is what I got when I checked your signature using
--newtiger
in the additional parameters for GnuPG of the Basic Settings
tap of
Openpgp Preferences.

OpenPGP Security Info

UNTRUSTED Good signature from Mica Mijatovic (jinjin)
<bluenessgmx.net>
Key ID: 0xC452DBFC / Signed on: 2/24/06 10:07 AM
Key fingerprint: 3F18 C1E3 B809 4E21 64FE A414 B4A9 1EF1
C452 DBFC

Without the use --newtiger, I got the below.

Error - signature verification failed

gpg command line and output:
C:\\Program Files\\GNU\\GnuPG\\gpg.exe --charset
utf8 --batch --no-tty
- --status-fd 2 -d
gpg: Signature made 02/24/06 10:07:30
gpg: using RSA key B4A91EF1C452DBFC
gpg: BAD signature from "Mica Mijatovic (jinjin)
<bluenessgmx.net>"

So everything seems to be working here the way I was told it
would.

Thanks Mica for the chance to test this function

So it seems to me. NewTIGER will fail to read signatures
made by
OldTIGER (and thus will interpret them as "BAD")
and vice versa.
