Hash: SHA1

Hello List,

Until now I used PGP 8 and I have key pairs DSA/ELG.
(DH/DSS in PGP 8 terminology)

As PGP 8 only uses SHA1, I decided to move to GnuPG in order to use a
better hash method (RIPEMD160 / SHA512 / SHA512 / SHA256)

Would it be possible to keep the existing keys and use one of the
other hash methods? By itself GnuPG continues to use SHA1 with my
existing keys.

Indeed, yes. Look into the 'setpref' command, available within the
edit-key menu. It takes a list of algorithms representing the order in
which you wish for them to be used. If you need more than this, feel
free to ask. And if this is enough for you to Google an answer on your
own, well, then I won't waste your time with a lengthier answer.

You can either Set the Preferences on your Key and/or create a gpg.conf
File and specify the particular Hash you desire. As long as the version
of GnuPG you're using is 1.4.4 or above you will be able to use DSA2
hashing to achieve a different Hash selection of your preference.
