PHP5 Compatabilirty

Hi,
I was wondering if there is development processes going onto
make Smarty 
more compatible with PHP5, at the moment with E_STRICT error
reporting 
there are many errors. An ugly solution to lots of them
would be to 
convert all the var declarations to public.... But you
know...
