Not really a problem -- one just has to highlight the word
in question,
then switch to the italic member of the font family (absent
that, you're
SOL) using the 'Style/Font' menu item. I haven't used
Scribus much yet,
but it is one of the applications that is maintained on the
Ubuntu
servers so I installed it.
