It is all in your head Tim! :P
Yes you can do things like italics and more in Scribus, it
implementation is counter intuitive.
Simply right click in the text frame, in the pop-up menue
select
propteries (or F2), in the properties dialog are all the
adjustments
you can make to text in scribus, however; this is where is
it counter
intuitive to use as now you can select text you want to
change then
select the cange you want to make in the dialog box.
kinda backwords but it is doable..
