Thread: HL 2040 printer And Amiga Pagestream

I have just purchased a HL 2040 Brother Laser printer and I
have been
trying to get it to print using Turbo Print and Pagestream
4.1. I was
wondering if there was a specific setting that needs to be
set in
either Pagestream or Turbo print to allow a postscript
printer to
work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an HP 6P with a Postscript module fitted. In
Turboprfes, on the
PS (Postscript) tab, I have entered the command line:

Ghostscript:GS -sDEVICE=turboprint -q

You need to have Ghostscripyt installed as well (from
Aminet).

Alternatively, you can just set Postscript in the PGS
printer
options, then choose the correct ppd. Although Brother isn't
listed in
the ppd options (strange?), you can use the general or
download the
Adobe ppd. This will suffice for general needs but won't use
any
special features your printer may have.

Hope that helps.

Dan,
I checked the Brother website, to look for a user manual or
spec
sheet.
Found a manual that states this printer is a GDI type. This
might
not be able to work with an amiga. :(
Anyone will a GDI based print work with Turboprint? (Might
be best to
ask the Turboprint people about this).

The 2040n model (which is not what you have, I think??!) has
PCL6,
HP, Epson, and Proprinter emulation modes.
