Good points all, and I concur with your comments. I was
relying on
probably faulty recollection of an article in an industry
magazine
devoted to sound engineering which, in turn, relied on a
press briefing
by someone who led the Microsoft multimedia development
program. I am
quite certain that it asserted that interfacing the types of
equipment
they use would be easier with Vista because Vista does more
of the work
at the OS level. For example, it has improved latency, all
unnecessary
background processes can be be demoted (effectively shut
down) with a
single mouse click, and volume control is provided
automatically at the
application level. Something was said about interfaces to
Vista being
simpler at the manufacturer's end. These recording
engineers, however,
would not be directly affected by DRM since they are
creating original
content and I would not think there would be any DRM
associated with the
files at that stage. Nevertheless, it was not a good way to
proceed on
my part and I apologize for introducing confusion and
misinformation.

As for us, someone posted Vista screen shots or whatever to
this Yahoo
group, but I can't access them because I don't have or want
an account
with Yahoo. So, in any case, people seem to be running
PageStream just
fine on Vista and that's what counts in this case.
