description:
At the stage bootloader I selected grub with text menu. I
entered a password twice. The password was recorded in
/boot/grub/menu.lst, but was not working: rebooting was
possible without a password. I think this is due to the fact
that the line "lock" was missing from the entries
in the menu.lst.

Moreover, 2 entries for "windows" were included in
the grub boot entries, even though I have no windows
installed on this box. I do have a 'vfat' partition on
/dev/hdb1 but that isn't large enough to contain any version
of windows and only holds a few backup files from /dev/hda
in case hda has a hardware failure.
I also have a /dev/hdb5, but that is an ext3 partition,
hardly likely to carry a working windows.
I will attach the menu.lst that was generated during
installation.
