description:
I've just installed Mandriva Linux 2007 PowerPack for i586
(I'm in early seeder
program). I've tried to play some 8bit, 11kHz mono WAV file
in Amarok and while
playing it it produces a lot of noise in addition to the
real sound from the
file. The same file was playing just fine in Mandriva 2006
and it also plays
just fine if I open it in KMplayer or if I open File
Properties dialog and
switch to Preview tab (in KDE).

The soundcard is Hercules Game Theater XP and it is using
the correct cs46xx
drivers from ALSA. The computer is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core 4200+. The kernel
is the default one - 2.6.17-5mdv and it is working in SMP
mode.
