Hi
I had some weird problems with a text document. I created a document on
word and when I imported the text to PageStream 5.0.3.4. Pro I saw that
the text was all black, when I actually had some phrases and paragraphs
in red, I tried changing the text manually and it didn't work, they
stayed black all the time and the properties didn't change it.
So the next step was to export the text in RTF from word. To my
surprise, the text was still in black (Except for one paragraph), the
only difference was that I could change other words and phases to red,
but.
Now comes the weird problem. Once I change one paragraph to red, all
text was converted to red from then and I could not change that text
back to black. I tried that on version 5.0.2.10 with same results. I
also noticed that if I changed the text size some letters on other words
changed in sizes too, this last problem I was unable to reproduce.
I also used OpenOffice Writer to Open the RTF (Word Exported) file and
saved if again in RTF but the text came out all red (The whole
document), the good part on using OpenOffice Writer was that I was able
to change the text back to Back with out affecting other paragraphs or
phases.
The best/fastest solution for me was to import the RTF text to Wordworth
7 on my Amiga and just changed the colors I wanted. Once I imported the
RTF text I modified with Wordworth 7 everything worked fine, the colors,
paragraph formatting etc.
It seems to me that the RTF filter is optimized to work with Wordworth
RTF files, even Final Writer exported RTF text work fine.
So, here comes my proposal or new feature in PageStream Deron..
Please make an OpenOffice filter to import text directly from it, or
make it more compatible with RTF files exported from OpenOffice.
They have the code available so you could probably use them to have an
idea how to make it more compatible. And OpenOffice is available on
Linux, Windows, Mac, and AmigaOS4 on the future as far as I know.
The best thing about all this is that I get to use my Amiga more often
than before... I love Wordworth 7 but unfortunately Digita never
released a Spanish speller for it. Too bad they don't sell it in windows
anymore. That would be a great tool for PageStream.
