Hi Folks,
While working on PageStream for Macintosh, I realized it was time to get
bug tracking integrated into the PageStream website. With the heatwave
going on around here, and no air conditioning, it seemed like a good
time to take a break from the intense and work on a small diversion. Did
a mention it was hot here ?!
So I have a working system up right now. _Nothing_ entered into it right
now will stay. I am going to reset the system once everyone has a chance
to play with it and provide some feedback. For those interested in
looking, a little background to help you eval the new system. Very few
folks use the existing bugzilla. Even I hate to use it. Mostly because no
one else does. I'm too lazy to enter everyone's report, and it is hard
to juggle two "lists".
So the bug tracking system should be easy, but useful. Same account as
pagestream.org. Simple to create, simple comments. Simple! But track
everything we need to track.
The only thing I can think that the new system needs is Prev/Next
buttons when you are viewing a specific bug, and eventually I want to
take and link to pages in the documentation system based on keywords
entered. Not 100% sure how
that would work, but something like do keyword search based on each item
in the keywords field and let you "add"/"remove" the resulting items
from the list. Would just have to tweak it until I got what I wanted.
Then the bug would list relevant documentation pages (hotlinked of
course) and the documentation pages would have hotlinked lists of
relevant bugs.
I think the system should work as it is right now and I can tweak it as
time goes. Let me know if I missed something important, if it makes
sense, can any terms be simplified etc. The link is
www.pagestream.org/showbugs.php.
Then I am going to try and go through all the bugzilla bugs and either
fix them or at least copy them over.
Remember, anything you enter right now will be deleted when testing is
done so don't get to worried about what you enter!

Both sounds good. Couldn't find an "add bug" button after login into my
account. Using FF 2.0.0.6 on MacOS. Otherwise looks good to me.

As Ingo says, how about a "New Bug Report" button? I think that would be
extremely useful.
The closest thing I could find was the Search section. It says, "sign in
to add a bug" there, so I signed in and selected "New," but it really is
a search function.
By the way, what's "bidi text? Or did you or Tim just make that one up?

The add bug buttons is named just that "Add Bug" and it should be at the
bottom of the page! Just under the search button. If you are not signed
in, it should say "sign in to add a bug" instead of the button.
And you??

I don't get the button for adding bugs either. I do get the 'Sign in
to add a bug' label even though I am correctly signed in.
This is using Mac OS X 10.4.10 and either Safari 3 Beta 3 or Shiira.

Hello,
Even if I'm logged, it still says "sign in to add a bug"...

Not here. As I reported earlier, there was no button even after I signed in.
After reading your response to Ingo, I thought that perhaps I had to be
signed into the site before I reached that page, so I opened the site
and signed in. I clicked "bug reports," but that took me to bugzilla
with no obvious way to get to the new system. So I manually entered the
page in the URL and reached the page, but still no "Add Bug" button. I'm
on Windows XP.
I use Netscape 8.1. Sometimes things are missing from pages when that
browser is running the Firefox engine, so I switched to the Explorer
engine. The page reopened with additional space between the Search
dialog and the "sign in to add bug" notice, but it was still the notice
and not the button.
I next tried the real Firefox, but the new site isn't in my bookmarks
and my password isn't stored there. I haven't the time right now to
change the password, so that remains untested.
So signed in or not, I can't get the button and, evidently, Ingo and
Nigel can't either.

I don't know what you mean by search function. The page it brings up is
to add a new bug! Before you forget, what were you two expecting to
find? Where did you expect the button to be, say etc?

Tim make that up, and bidi is short for bi-direction text support. Ie,
hebrew, arabic.

No button in Firefox, either. I signed in and then went to the page. It
offers a sign out link, but the button never appears.
